Sometimes, things happen that are so funny, they make you laugh out loud

Formula 1 is a sport full of drama, excitement and surprises. Sometimes, things happen that are so funny, they make you laugh out loud. Here is one such story that actually happened last month.

It was the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, and Nicholas Latifi was driving his Williams in the first practice session. He was on his out lap, trying to get familiar with the track, when he made a hilarious mistake. He turned onto the wrong part of the circuit, entering the pit lane of the old layout instead of the current one. He realized his error too late and had to reverse back onto the track, causing some confusion among the other drivers and teams.

Latifi later explained that he had followed a painted line on the road that he thought was leading him to the correct pit entry, but it turned out to be a remnant of the old configuration. He said he felt “a bit stupid” and laughed off the incident as a “funny” moment. He also joked that he wanted to see what the old pit lane looked like, since he had never driven there before.

The Canadian driver was not penalized for his wrong turn, but he did not have a great weekend overall. He finished last in both qualifying and the race, while his teammate George Russell scored his first points for Williams with a ninth-place finish.
