Perez caught up with Leclerc on lap 32, and made a daring move around the outside of Stowe corner to take second place.
Perez then pitted for a second time on lap 35, dropping back to fourth behind Russell. He rejoined on soft tyres, hoping to catch up with Leclerc and Verstappen in the final laps. However, he soon encountered traffic, and had to fight his way past Stroll and Ocon. He also had to deal with a five-second time penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
Verstappen pitted for a second time on lap 40, switching to soft tyres as well. He came out well ahead of Leclerc, who stayed out on his hard tyres until the end. Verstappen cruised to victory, crossing the line 16 seconds ahead of Leclerc. Perez managed to pass Russell on lap 48, but he could not catch Leclerc in time. He finished third on the road, but dropped to fourth after his penalty was applied. Russell inherited third place, scoring his first podium for Mercedes.
The rest of the points were scored by Stroll (fifth), Ocon (sixth), Norris (seventh), Gasly (eighth), Hulkenberg (ninth) and Zhou (tenth). Hamilton finished in 11th place, failing to score for the first time since 2018. He also lost ground to Verstappen in the championship standings, falling 123 points behind.
